The records of the Southwest-Belmont Y.W.C.A. fully document the importance and activities of the organization and offer insights into Philadelphia's black community. There is particularly strong documentation in the 1930s and 1940s, a time of vigorous activity by the city's blacks. However, the Committee of Management minutes and other committee files span nearly the entire history of the organization, thus providing an excellent overview of the concerns of the Southwest-Belmont Y.W.C.A.
